It’s Easter weekend. My mother, who lives with my wife and I, will try to make a big deal of this holiday. My mother is the type of person that believes in God, but still does whatever she wants because she knows God hates her, but twice a year, she tries to make amends by getting really religious. I’ve been an atheist for a little over 2 years. This weekend, we are celebrating the torture and death of a man there is no proof even existed. Sunday, we’ll celebrate his resurrection. None of the gospels agree on how the events unfolded. History has no record of this event even happening, but there are people out there willing to torture themselves by hanging on a cross for a period of time to suffer as this character from a book suffered. It’s absolutely insane. I, for one, will be having dinner with my family, and they all know that I won’t participate in any prayer or bible reading. Out of respect, I won’t ask them tough questions about what the separate gospels say.
